A policy at Vanderbilt University prohibits religious organizations from requiring that their leaders share the same beliefs and goals as the groups, a policy that has garnered much criticism on campus and accusations that the school is flirting with religious suppression. One campus group, the Christian Legal Society, has a provision in its Constitution that requires each officer to lead Bible studies at Chapter meetings, a requirement that the school says is discriminatory and violates the school?s non-discrimination policy.
Justin Gunther, the president of the Christian Leadership Society, said that ?If the university says that Christian organizations can?t have Bible studies and can?t have prayer meetings, essentially it removes the core of what Christian organizations do.?
